This chicken coop was designed to be used as a broody coop or a cockerel box, where birds can be safely separated but housed within a single unit.
The double coop comprises a centrally located house with two adjoining runs. The house can be divided into two units by placing the central partition. Birds are separated if desired by using the central divider, but if you wish to use the unit as a single house instead, the partition is completely removable. If the unit is standing on grass, you can rotate access between runs to allow the grass time to recover between uses. The house roof is well-ventilated, and hinged for easy access to the birds and for general husbandry. The slide-out floor also makes cleaning is also easier. There are two pop holes (one on each side of the partition) in the double coop, each with a sliding door for access control to the runs. The run tops slide away from the house for access to the pop holes or for easy placement of food and water in the run. The run tops can be lifted off, but they do lock in place when fully closed. The unit can be easily moved by two people using the carry handles at both ends. If you’re looking for a larger coop with a run, you might like our Buckingham coop.
